Sandwich facade

A big advantage of applying XPS thermal insulation on curtain walls and also on sandwich facades is the fact that the usual ventilation layer is not needed. Sandwich façade element is either thinner, or the space can be used for applying thicker thermal insulation.

Decorative wall of the sandwich facade is fixed onto the external wall, over the thermal insulation FIBRANxps MAESTRO, with special anchors.

Advantages of FIBRANxps MAESTRO boards

  • As FIBRANxps insulation does not require a ventilation channel, a façade element can be at least 4cm thinner, which means that a thicker thermal insulation can be applied, thus enhancing the thermal performance of the façade.
  • Since there is no ventilation air between the brick wall and the insulation, bricks can be considered as part of thermal insulation of the façade.
  • No windscreen membrane is required, which must be used with wool insulation in the ventilated system of sandwich façade.
  • FIBRANxps MAESTRO insulation boards are twice as long as the usual boards which enables fast installation. Due to tongue-and-groove edges the thermal insulation can be applied with perfection, without thermal bridging, which could form when working with straight-edge insulation boards.

occur at plinth, at visible concrete slabs, at windows and doors…
Building a foundation for a sandwich façade
Because of its exceptional weight the sandwich façade requires a solid foundation and load-bearing elements at junctions with concrete slabs. In order to prevent larger thermal bridges, these elements should be thermally insulated, e.g. by applying the rendered (FIBRANxps ETICS BT) façade system.
